Unfurl is a zine telling a story that inspired me from my little garden, it taught me to embrace the seasons of my own life. I’ve come to love them even when they’re not in bloom, when they seem still or faded, because I’ve learned that growth isn’t always obvious. This zine is a reminder to embrace every stageof life, to be gentle with myself, It's about learning to love where I am, even when I don’t feel like I’m where I’m “supposed” to be.
Unfurl is a botanical zine told from the point of view of a single plant, one who watched everyone around her bloom first, and had to sit with that.
The story follows her through the waiting: the quiet, the doubt, the seasons that kept moving while she stayed still. And then her bloom came, later than the rest, yes, but fuller, louder, more than she'd expected from herself.

The illustrations were built up in layers, colored pencil over watercolor, pushing the pigment until it felt as full as the moment it was trying to capture, the bloom that came late, but came bigger than anyone expected.

GOAL
My garden taught me one thing: nothing blooms on command. This zine is proof that I was here, learning to be gentle with that.
